Lauren & David: The Engagement

Yesterday I had the pleasure of taking Lauren and David’s engagement pictures that we had been planning for a few months. David works far away from here and so planning in advance for this session was a must. They decided to do these in August while David was home and I knew if we were planning on August pictures they needed to be early…really early. So, we started out at 7:30 (yes, a.m.) and headed out to a property they borrowed. After lots of roads I have never heard of before, we found a dirt road leading to a rustic cabin. The property not only had a neat cabin but a lake, pier, bridge and tons of gorgeous trees. And, I was giddy with excitement seeing all of the old buildings right off the dirt road.

So, for a few hours they posed, smiled, kissed and were totally great sports about everything I suggested them doing. Lauren and David make the CUTEST couple and both were so sweet and easygoing that it made my job a breeze. It was soaking wet out after some evening showers and my shoes and pants were soaked and muddy when we were done but it was so worth it for the great pictures I got. Thanks Lauren and David for a fabulous engagement session and I can’t wait to photograph your wedding this fall!

Hannah & Kahlan [Boston, GA Engagement Photographer]

Meet Hannah and Kahlan. I have the pleasure of photographing their wedding this fall and I am super excited about it for so many reasons. First off, this couple is so fun and easygoing and they were willing to try all of my super crazy ideas. I love, love, love that. Second of all…they are gorgeous! They make my job easy. And third, their wedding is going to be so fun! I loved hearing about their plans and all of the family and friends that will be there.

I met them one morning in Boston and I we went all over town taking pictures. We had outfit changes, props, and lots of conversation. I love the engagement session as I get a chance to know the couple before the wedding and it helps me to create photographs that I know they will love.

As I mentioned before, I updated the blog which now has a SLIDESHOW feature but you must be viewing the blog as it is on my site and not from Google Reader or another Feed Reader program. I haven’t had time to add music files to it or changed the slideshow settings but this will happen later this week but for now I just had to share these pictures as I just adore them. Be patient as the delay time from one picture to the next is a little slow. But, you can always click on the thumbnails if you want to look at them with your own timing.

After seeing them you will know why I had such a fabulous time at this session. Please leave me some blog love if you like these pictures :)

Shelby + Robert [Thomasville, GA Engagement Photographer]

As you know, last week I was in Louisiana. I lived in New Orleans from the 6th grade through college (well, I went to college in TX, but made many visits home) and so I have a lot of memories of New Orleans and a lot of friends there as well. My husband had to do some work in the area and so we arranged for it to be the same week as my high school reunion. I had a great time catching up with old friends and I took a lot of pictures as well.

While there, I took one special set of engagement pictures. Out of all of the engagement pictures I have ever taken, this set means the most to me. Why? Because I have known this girl since before she was even born. I saw her parents in the beginning stages of love, passing notes back and forth to each other, often through me. I met Shelby’s mom on my first day of school in the 8th grade. We rode the bus together and she taught me everything I never knew about everything my parent’s never told me about. We went to a small private school and we used to convince the bus driver to stop for sno-balls or ice cream at least once a week on the way home. We had so much fun together as well as getting into a bit of trouble too. After the 10th grade, her mom left our school and I only sporadically saw her after that as my life was busy with school and work and she had a lot of stuff going on as well. Shelby came along right before I graduated from high school and I remember holding her when she was teeny tiny. When I would make a visit home from college, I would get to see them and I used to take Shelby places, just the two of us. We made a special trip to the Audobon Zoo which I can still clearly remember and I still laugh at what a precocious little three year old she was.

After college I moved away from New Orleans and my times seeing Shelby and her siblings became less frequent. I couldn’t get over how much they all grew up on my visits back to New Orleans. And then, as life got busier, we somehow lost touch. I found Shelby last year through facebook and I was floored how she was all grown up, engaged, and just beautiful. She looks just like her mom and she also has that same spunk as well.

I told her that I wanted to do her engagement pictures and so we made plans. Both Shelby and her fiancé Robert are actors and so they wanted something fun and thought the amusement section of City Park was the perfect place to capture these memories. Because both are actors, they brought tons of clothing changes and props and I knew that it was going to be a great session. I loved all their funny faces, cute looks, playful actions and their passionate kisses. And even better, I got reacquainted with Shelby and I got to know Robert as well and they are the cutest couple, perfect for each other in every way. I am so happy that Shelby found such a nice guy.

So, enjoy a few of the many pictures from the day. I decided to put a little slideshow together as well which isn’t the best quality on You Tube but I am having issues getting it hosted on our own site (that means my IT husband hasn’t quite figured out how to get it to work, LOL).

Here’s a link to Shelby + Robert’s Slideshow Via You Tube.

Caitlin + Josh [Thomasville, GA Engagement Photographer]

Meet this newly engaged couple, Caitlin and Josh. I got a call from Caitlin’s little sister on a Tuesday, I believe, with the news that her sister was getting engaged that Thursday and her family wanted to set up an engagement session for the following weekend. Now, Caitlin didn’t know about her proposal, but the families did. Josh planned an elaborate scheme of going to the same spot (up on a mountain if I remember correctly) as their first date to pop the question. Talk about sweet!

A little while after the proposal, all of the families gathered there to celebrate the engagement of this wonderful couple. It is such a neat engagement story and I am very impressed with Josh’s planning of the big surprise.

I met Caitlin and Josh the morning I was heading out of town for a week and I thought it was fun that both families showed up the the engagement session. It was great to see how happy the families were for this upcoming wedding and you could just feel the excitement in the air. I am happy to finally get this preview up as I am sure they are dying to see the pictures after a longer than normal wait. Check out this beautiful couple and I want to send out a big congratulations to them and their families.
