Baby B [Thomasville, GA Newborn Baby Photographer]

This new mom contacted me after her precious baby girl was born and we worked quickly to get her on the schedule and I am so glad I could squeeze her in. When I arrived she was eating and wide awake – so awake that we were wondering if she was going to fall asleep at all. But, with an extra feeding (or two), she not only fell asleep but in a deep sleep. She was just adorable and the sweetest little newborn. It was so fun helping her fall asleep – baby snuggling is one thing I love about my job!

Awake….

Getting tired…

Asleep…

Smiley & Her Little Brother [Thomasville, GA Child Baby Photographer]

The last time I photographed this cute little girl, she was barely one and her mommy had just found out that she would be a big sister. Now, baby brother has arrived and she has grown up so much and I loved how super smiley she was. Around age two is not always the easiest to keep still and photograph but this little girl was a breeze and her baby brother was so sweet too. I took these pictures at their grandparents house which not only has the most gorgeous landscaping, but some really fun things like a koi pond and a waterfall. It is just beautiful. Thanks L family for a great session!

My BIG News

For weeks now I have been teasing my friends that I had something exciting to share but I just couldn’t share it right away. They asked lots of questions and I just smiled away and told them that soon I would be able to share my secret. Well, the time has come. As of yesterday, Ursula Page Photography now has a STUDIO LOCATION in historic downtown Thomasville, Georgia. The new studio will be at 208 S. Broad Street, right next to A Different Drummer and close to Rayann’s Christian Bookstore. The current building is rather dated inside (think 1980′s decor) so it will need to be remodeled and changed a bit to fit our needs. This will take a few months as there are permits to get, a little demolition to do, a new wall to put up, a ceiling to tear down and lots and lots of paint to be applied.

A few people might be wondering why I am opening a studio as I myself never thought this would happen. I still plan to do the majority of my sessions outside and on location, but there are a few things that needed to change. Although I don’t do sessions at my home, I have a LOT of business stuff. I mean lots. Hats, blankets, chairs, couches, pettiskirts, etc and then lots of samples, equipment, packaging supplies, stationary and so much more. My poor house has turned into a mess from storing stuff anywhere and everywhere. My office is cluttered, my den cabinets are packed full and I also took over half of my kids’ playroom for additional storage. I am really ready to have this stuff out of my house. Next, I am so excited to be able to offer indoor studio sessions. All newborn and young baby sessions with a studio lights will be at the studio and this will offer so many more choices to my clients as I will have all of my props and backdrops there to choose from. This will allow me to finally introduce a baby plan that I have wanted to do for ages. Studio sessions will also be available for people who specifically want a studio set up. Last of all, I am so excited to have a place where my clients can see samples of all of my products as well as have the opportunity to place their orders in person.

Here is a quick picture of the current outside of my new location. Yes, it is a rather bad picture that was taken on the fly with my point and shoot camera. I was complaining to my husband that I will never get a great picture of the outside with a big light post stationed right in front of it. He laughed and told me that only a photographer would say that and he thought it was great that the outside will always be well lit and visible from the street.

Here it is…. just remember this is the “before” picture. I hope you are excited about my big change too!

Friday Faves, 5/21/10

It is Friday faves time and I thought I would be sure to post today as not only do I have a ton of favorites, but I have had a few emails telling me how much they love to read these favorite posts. So, without further ado…

1. SCHOOL’S OUT!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, so technically this is maybe just a favorite of mine but I am so ready to have more time. The end of the school year is always crazy busy and with work and tons of kids activities and appointments every day, I start to grow tired. Today is the last day of school around here and it is my oldest son’s last day of elementary school. I can’t wait to start sleeping in a bit later, enjoy more time with my kids and working on my HUGE to-do list not only around the house but with the business. I have some exciting things coming up once I have the time to actually spend on them. Now, I may change my mind about the whole summer thing come July but for now it is definitely a favorite!

2. Shop it To Me – This website is a fun way to keep track of cute new outfits and accessories for your whole family without having to leave the house or search a bunch of different stores. You can customize what clothing you are looking for, as well as sizes, prices and specific stores. You then get an email about once a week with cute new outfits from these various stores and not only where you can find them but how much they are. This is how I often find my kids’ holiday/special occasion/picture outfits. We live almost an hour away from the mall or any really good clothing stores and so this shows me what I am missing and then if I see something I like I know right where to go. Stores like the Gap, J Crew, Children’s Place, etc are all options.

3. Fiverr - OK, I am not sure if I would really count this next site as a favorite, but I do find it very entertaining and it could be helpful if you needed something specific done. Basically, this website is full of listings of things people will do for you for $5. What types of things are included? Almost everything. I just now looked and there are people offering to write your resume, make you a power point presentation, give you an hour of personal training, teach you how to whistle, and so much more. I have never taken anyone up on their “offer” but I could see where you might find something useful.

4. Reclaim Privacy - I found this site from another photographer friend and I think it is a great tool for anyone with a Facebook account. I have both a business and a personal account and I wanted to make sure that my personal account was as secure as I need it to be. Follow the instructions on here and it will show you what privacy issues you may or may not have and what you can do to fix them.

5. Magic Eraser - I am not sure I would have included this until I overheard someone last week say they had never heard of the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and since this is a STAPLE in our house, I thought I should add it as a favorite for this week. I LOVE this eraser and I can’t imagine life with three kids and no magic eraser. Just last month my three year old decided to draw in pencil all over the cream colored walls in our dining room. I freaked out a bit when a regular eraser did not take it off. I was out of Magic Erasers and so I tried everything else and nothing made it come off. I picked some up the next day and off it came without much work. Try it out and you will love it too.

That is it for today’s favorites. Check back in on Monday afternoon for some VERY exciting news! I can’t wait!!!!
