The one year session is taken right around the first birthday.

Please note that your last session will expire if not used by the time your baby is fourteen months old. Please contact the studio a few weeks before your baby's birthday to set up a time.

Some people choose to have the first birthday session before they turn one so that pictures can be used on the invitation or at the party. If this is the case, please allow ample time for the pictures to be taken, edited and ordered.

Please plan this session at a time that you know your baby is normally awake and happy. Babies tend to be happiest in the morning. Feel free to bring whatever small snacks your baby likes in case we need to use it while taking a break.

One of your baby plan sessions can be done at another location (within 20 miles of the studio) so you can use this session at the studio or at another location. Pictures with the whole family (siblings included) is included with one of your baby plan sessions. For any additional sessions in which you want to include siblings, there is a $25 fee. Please note that if the session takes place away from the studio it must be outdoors using natural light.

MOM'S LIST TO WEAR:

Wear a solid shirt, no lace, jeans are great, small stud earrings, no necklace, keep jewelry to a minimum…wedding rings are okay…no watches. Please be mindful of low cut or V-neck tops. No sweatshirts or sweaters please. Bright colored nail polish really stands out…keep nails simple. No makeup with sparkles…including eye shadow…the sparkles catch the light of the flash and you will have silver sparkles all over!! No lipstick with a high gloss…the reflection of the lights from the studio will show on glossy lips. Bring your make up bag for touch ups.

DAD'S LIST TO WEAR:

BABY:

Babies at this age can wear most anything! As before, please make sure the clothing fits and send us a picture of the outfits if you want an indoor studio session so that we can have a set ready to go when your baby arrives. We have a variety of tutus and other props you are welcome to use for their session. At this age, babies can usually get through at least 3 outfits. If you are doing family pictures, please note that we usually start with those first.

Be sure to bring bottles, water, formula, baby wipes, a change of clothes for baby, extra diapers, burp rags, hair brush, pacifier, and anything else you think you may need. Please feel free to bring anything that you would like to incorporate in the portraits such as a special blanket, headbands, knit hats, bloomers, a stuffed animal, jewelry, toy, etc. I am happy to personalize your portraits :)

Balloons are a great addition to the first birthday session. I usually suggest bright primary colors or else other bright colors. The length of the balloon string/ribbon should be as long as the baby sitting or if the baby can already stand, the standing (so the balloons are right above their head)

If you are planning a cake smash as the end of your birthday session, please bring the cake and plenty of wet wipes and or towels for cleaning the baby off with as well as a few plastic bags to stuff the dirty clothes into. If the session is an outdoor session, the cake smash is usually just done on the grass. If the session is a studio session, it will be done on a white vinyl backdrop that can be wiped down after the session. If the cake smash is in the studio, please dress your kids in bright colors and have a colorful cake or cupcake so that the colors pop off the backdrop.
